The ball of the foot is where your toes join with the rest of the foot. It is muscular part of the foot, which also can become blistered easily when performing a rigorous activity on your feet.
When you raise your heels off the ground, you are standing on the balls of your feet. A person often will use the balls of their feet for better balance and control, which is why you will often notice dancers or runners on the balls of their feet.
