What is Starz Play in Netflix?

Netflix has a Starz Play category section, but what exactly is Starz Play and how movies make the category?

As a member of Netflix you get access to hundreds of thousands of movies, but with the addition of Starz Play they also allow you to view an additional 1,000+ films, television series, musical performances, and other original programming. This means you will get see new releases from Miramax, Walt Disney, Sony, Pixar, IFC, The Weinstein Company, and other movie studios.

Starz Play essentially adds to Netflix's ever-growing library of titles, as well as giving members a much higher quality of movies for those looking to watch streaming Netflix Instant movies.

But why even make the distinction? Just add them to the library, I don't care that it has something to do with Starz.
