What is the best graphic image format to use in Microsoft Word?

When adding images to a Microsoft Word document, what is the best graphic format to use? Should I use .gif, .jpg, .png,... etc?

I've found the best results using .gif images. However, it really depends on what type of picture/image you want to include in Word. If you're using photograph images than it's probably best to stick with .jpg.
