Cheese and peanut butter are two of the most popular bait used in mouse traps. Unfortunately, cheese and peanut butter can both get moldy within a week for cheese or a few weeks for peanut butter. Once they get moldy, the mouse traps will no longer work to entice mice. Some other popular bait used to lour mice to traps include gumdrops, marshmallows, beef jerky, and various nesting materials (dental floss, cotton, or strips of cloth).

You can also try using nuts or a regular peanut if you have a mouse trap that has a mini bucket that the peanut can sit in (or bird seed). Or use candy such as gummy bears, gummy worms or even chocolate that can be stuck onto the mouse trap.
