When is the official start of the 2012-13 NHL Hockey Season? What is the date of the opening day of regular season NHL hockey?

The NHL is currently locked out.... However, it is expected that the NHL opening day hockey games for the 2012-2013 season wil start on October 25, 2012, if and when the lock out ends in the coming days.

Due to the Lockout, which has now been resolved, the season is slated to begin sometime in mid-January 2013 and end in early May 2013, with the playoffs to follow between May–June.

Now that the lockout is over, the 2012-13 NHL season officially starts on Saturday, January 19, 2013 @ 3:00 PM.
