Why does my basset hound walk so slow?

Why does it take awhile for my basset hound to get from one place to another? Is there something wrong with it?

Basset hounds have a low to moderate level of energy. That is just the way that they are built. This does not mean that there is anything wrong with it. Despite its slow and melancholic demeanour, the basset hound has great endurance and will enjoy taking a walk or two daily.
