Why does my cat look at itself in the mirror?

Why is my cat preoccupied with staring at itself in the mirror? Is something wrong with my cat?

Like many other household pets, you will find that cats like to stare at themselves in the mirror as they do not realize that what they see in the mirror is a reflection of themselves. Most likely, they are thinking that what they are seeing is another cat in the room, and that is what drives their curiosity. This is perfectly normal and nothing to be concerned about.
