Does Facebook Mobile app lie about times people were active? or to better term Falsely say someone was active

I have friends and i would message them but then they would say they were sleeping or something stupid ....and my gf would say shes not on but Facebook would state that she was

I am having the same issue but cannot figure how this is happening. FB is saying I sm on at 4:00am when I sm sleeping.
