Why is my debit card not working at ATM machine?

How come my debit card is not working at ATMs? The ATM says could not read card (or access card). What is wrong with my debit card?

Make sure your Debit card pin number hasn't changed.

Also make sure the ATM is reading the card. If the black stripe on the back is messed up, then you may need to clean it, so the card is readable.

It's possible that a particular ATM may not be working properly. Try using it at a few different ATMs (bank, grocery store, etc.), and see if it may work.

Still not working, be sure to call your bank and see if there system is down, or is having trouble. You might need to request a new card.
